The chapter's main online presence is the UA SLA Student Chapter blog.

The Special Libraries Association (SLA) is the global organization for innovative information professionals and their strategic partners. The SLA promotes and strengthens its members through learning, advocacy, and networking initiatives. Founded in 1909, SLA is now the international association representing the interests of thousands of information professionals in over 80 countries worldwide.

Special librarians work in a variety of industries including academic, law, corporate and government settings. They are defined by SLA as information resource experts who collect, analyze, evaluate, package, and disseminate information to facilitate accurate decision-making in corporate, academic, and government settings.

Our goal is to serve students interested in careers relating to special libraries and the information profession. SLA provides a forum for sharing information and promoting interaction between the special libraries community and students!

The UA SLA student chapter meets approximately every two weeks, usually every other Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00.  If you are not able to attend in person, you may contact one of the officers (or anyone who has a notebook with webcam and microphone and who plans to attend) and request in advance to be included via Breeze (one of several telepresence programs that the University of Arizona uses), and arrangements will be made for you.

Yes, you can be a distance student and be an active SLA (or LSO) member.
