Keynote speaker: Veronica Reyes-Escudero- Borderlands Curator for the UA Libraries’ Special Collections

Presentation Title: "Vying for Place in Our Historical Record"

Abstract:  Will address issues of diversity and cultural representation in our Special Collections archives. Where are we since the post 1960s civil rights movement incentivized our early building of Chicano collections?  What can we do to ensure that the historical record is representative of our cultural communities?

Biography:  Verónica Reyes-Escudero is the Borderlands Curator at the University of Arizona Libraries, Special Collections. Her other duties include, Exhibits & Events Coordinator for Special Collections as well as conducting reference and instruction for users of Special Collections. As Borderlands Curator, her responsibilities include donor relations, acquisitions and digitization efforts to expose borderlands material among other duties.
