MASTER'S CANDIDATES

These are the Graduate College Degree Certification Department Deadlines for submitting paperwork, etc., for graduation. These selections apply to master's candidates only.

Graduation
Semester 		ePortfolio, Course Justification, and

 April 1 2nd Semester of Residence or during the semester in which you will complete 18 credit hours, whichever comes first

DOCTORAL CANDIDATES

These are the Graduate College Degree Certification Department Deadlines for submitting paperwork, etc., for graduation. These selections apply to Ph.D. candidates only.

Plan of Study
  • Deadline: 3rd Semester in Residence
  • Submit to: Graduate College

Comprehensive Oral and Written Examination
  • Deadline: Before admission to degree candidacy (Oral & Written exams to be taken in successive semesters)
  • Submit to: Graduate Degree Certification Office

Dissertation Proposal Defense
  • Deadline: After completion of comprehensive exams and no later than the semester immediately following the semester in which you complete your comprehensive exams (not counting summer sessions)
  • Submit to: Candidacy Committee

Committee Appointment Form (formerly the Advancement to Candidacy Form)
  • Deadline: Due six (6) months prior to Final Oral Defense

Schedule the Oral Defense Examination

COMMENCEMENT PROGRAM

The Commencement Program goes to press 2 months before the commencement ceremony. Notify the Graduate Degree Certification Office of changes in your completion date to ensure your name will appear in the program.

Doctoral Students must complete all requirements to attend the commencement ceremony. Completion of requirements includes passing the Oral Defense Examination and submission of the final copies of the Dissertation/Document to the Graduate Degree Certification Office.

All students, both master's and doctoral students, are required to notify the SIRLS office if you anticipate a change in change in your graduation date!
